I grew up on ham and bacon from Albert Hicks' farm, as it was next door to our family farm. Grandmother, Aunt Margorie, Mom and the rest of the cooks in our family use Benton's bacon to season just about anything we cook Southern style. Collards, Green Beans, Field Peas, soups/stews and even our cornbread (we use the bacon fat) get a healthy portion of Benton's bacon, ham or end piece trimmings. It makes ALL the difference in the world! That deep smoke flavor just can't be beat in my opinion. So every time I'm back home, I stop and get a couple of packages of Benton's on the way to the airport and throw it in my carry-on luggage. It's so famous... the flight attendants just look at me and smile and say, "Benton's?" when the whole plane smells of that delicious smokiness! Stop in and grab some, order it online or have someone bring it to you. You will not regret it!
